Only a Year

I got the funniest reaction to My Challenge today. When I said it would end at the end of February, he said, “You’re only doing it for a year?”

Wow. He’s a man who can put some perspective on things, huh? When I’m done with the year, it will be 365 days. Perhaps one percent of my life if I’m lucky.

Stopped me cold, it did.

What was your challenge for ? A trip ? =P I'm doing my challenge for three years. I wonder how most of you did it with around 2k in less than a year. xD

My Challenge is to live on CA Minimum Wage for a year. After taxes, that works out to $1026 a month. The trip didn't relate to the Challenge; it was the one thing I spend extra money on during the Challenge. As far as paying for the trip, since I've been living on $1026 a month and saving everything else, I came up with the money for the trip pretty handily; in less than a half year.

It would stop me cold too. After all, we're lucky; lots of folks don't have the choice to live the minimum wage challenge. I think that what I most admire about your challenge is that you're doing as part of "walking the walk and talking the talk".

Supposedly, it takes 21 days to start a new habit. After a year of living with this challenge, you'll like need to spend some time in a fiscal decompression chamber before you recover from the conditioning.
I do know you'll never view money in quite the same way again.
